Friday Quads at MCDS

Friday, February 5, 2010

Registration Deadline: Friday at 3:30pm

Tournament: 3:45pm-5:30pm

Smurfit Hall @ Miami Country Day School,

601 NE 107th Street (just east of NE 6th Avenue)

This is a tournament for ALL AGES and ALL ABILITIES! This is not limited to just students!

Only a $5 entry fee for USCF members (if registration is received by Thursday)!

$6 if received on Friday.

What’s so great about quads?

· A much smaller draw than our 150-player tournaments means a more relaxed atmosphere for all players and a nice way for beginners to start playing rated chess.

· You get grouped with players that have a rating close to yours. That means 3 games of competitive chess!

· Winners of each quad receive a $15 USCF Gift Certificate!

· You get a few fun games of chess in to celebrate the end of your week.

· You don’t have to be here all day! The event should conclude in less than 2 hours!

To register, contact Chief Tournament Director, Michael Hutsko, at hutskom@miamicountryday.org.

4th Annual Spartan Chess Fest

Hello Chess Players, Parents, Coaches, & Fans,

This week is an exciting one because International Master John Donaldson will be visiting the MCDS campus for our 4th Annual Spartan Chess Fest! He will be working with various groups during the school day from all divisions. However, there are 3 big events we want to invite the whole community to attend:

1/28/10, Thursday, 3:30pm, 20-Board Simul Exhibition

Watch IM Donaldson play 20 of the best players at MCDS…all at one time!

1/29/10, Friday, 3:30pm, Clash of the Titans

Watch IM Donaldson play National Master Eric Rodriguez in a unique setting where you find out what the masters are thinking while they play!

1/30/10, Saturday, 9:30am, Miami Country Day Grand Prix #4, a USCF-rated chess tournament

A tournament for all ages and abilities. We need your entries to be in soon.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at this email address. I look forward to a fun week of chess!
