There were 117 participants at the first of six Miami Country Day Grand Prix events, and many agree that it was not only a successful event, but a great performance by Miami Country Day School!
The Miami Country Day high school team won 1st place in the K-12 section! A.J. Pitchman and Neil Mehta won 4 of their 5 matches, tying for the second highest score in the section. Daniel Goldfarb, Moshe Libbin, Miroslav Kriz each earned 3 wins. Also impressive were the 3 wins earned by both Dylan Jaffe & Giovanni Cragnotti, their first ever USCF-rated event. Matthew Kydd & Shadi Tabbara each scored points in the K-12 section as well.
In addition to the K-12 team trophy, two lower-schoolers brought home individual trophies. Andre Harper-Rosenberg finished in 2nd place in the K-3 section and Elliot Starkman finished in 3rd place in the K-1 section. Congratulations!
Daniel Gallup scored points for the MCDS K-3 team, which helped MCDS finish 3rd for this tournament. Matias Marine scored points in the K-5 section and the MCDS K-8 team earned points from both David Gonzalez and Sascha Kappos.
